Norton Healthcare is Hiring a RN, Emergency Department, 6p-6a Near Madison, IN

Responsibilities:

Working under moderate supervision, utilizes regulatory and HIPAA requirements, cultural sensitivity guidelines, Indiana Nurse Practice Act, Emergency Nurses Association standards, infection control requirements, and KDH organizational and nursing values, policies, and procedure, to ensure safe, quality patient care for all age groups. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provides quality patient care and treatment, with attention to continuity of care and patient advocacy, while maintaining a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for the patient and family
  • Utilizes proper technique when lifting, transferring, and ambulating patients for safety of self, patient, and other staff
  • Provides patient and family teaching
  • Documentation of care completed in the electronic health record
  • Knowledge of and ability to activate and implement hospital and community disaster plans
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently triage multiple patients and establish priorities of care
  • Knowledge of and ability to decontaminate patients and provide treatment for hazardous materials exposure
  • Excellence in providing appropriate patient care and documentation in legal related situations (i.e. child and elder abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence, forensic cases, refusal of treatment/leaving against medical advice, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain calm, react appropriately, and function efficiently in high stress and emergency situations
  • Performs initial assessment of patients condition, determines priority of care, and begins emergency measures as necessary
  • Uses ethical principles, collaboration, and evidence based practice to coordinate nursing and interdisciplinary team for patient care
  • Facilitates communication between the physician/APN and patient/family
  • Utilizes excellent customer service standards and Studer principles in communicating with patient, family and coworkers through use of verbal amenities, pleasant facial and body expressions as well as pleasant voice tone
  • Ensures work areas are clean and orderly
  • Participates in departmental QAPI process and patient experience initiatives

  • Possesses and maintains Indiana RN licensure
